River Gilbert comes from the small town of Big Sandy, Tennessee. He first found his love of creating art with pen and ink, which was one of the first mediums he would experiment with during his career. With the inherit qualities of the medium, this would drive his interest in mediums where the process taken during the creation process is the most enjoyable aspect of them. River continued to explore his passion for the arts at the University of Tennessee at Martin, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Studio Art. This led to his vastly increased appreciation of art, and his growing interest in what he depcits in his work. His artwork focuses on depicting the world around us and how nature is in every aspect of our lives, even if it is not apparent to everybody.
